Release: Roosevelt Institute Welcomes Three New Fellows

Leading Progressive Think Tank Adds to Its Team of Cutting Edge Policy Experts

NEW YORK, NY — This week, the Roosevelt Institute announced the arrival of three new Fellows joining its think tank team: Mayuri Chaturvedi, Jenn Harris, and Mark Paul.

“We are thrilled to welcome these bold thought leaders to our team of progressive experts,” said Nell Abernathy, Vice President of Research and Policy at the Roosevelt Institute. “At Roosevelt, we strive to change the way people think about the economy, so that we can build a more equitable and productive future. Mayuri, Jennifer, and Mark are engaged in the kind of research and writing that expands the possibility for what we can do together.”

Chaturvedi joins as a Visiting Fellow and is a Postdoctoral Scholar at Columbia University, where she researches economic inequality and the ways it connects to rent-seeking behavior. She has also studied the way market imperfections undergird wage inequality and the way cultural and social norms perpetuate gender inequality, with much of her work conducted in both the developing and developed worlds. Earlier this year, she completed her Ph.D. from the University of California-Irvine with a specialization in Development and Political Economy.

Harris joins as a Fellow and is also an Expert Principal at Redstone Strategy Group, where she provides counsel on public policy and philanthropy. She has previously served as a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she wrote on geoeconomics, U.S. foreign policy, and energy and climate issues. Before her time at the Council on Foreign Relations, she was a leader architect of the U.S. State Department’s economic statecraft agenda during Secretary Hillary Clinton’s tenure. Harris is a Truman and Rhodes scholar and holds a BA from Wake Forest University, an MPhil from Oxford University, and a JD from Yale Law School.

Paul will be a Visiting Fellow and is a Postdoctoral Associate at Duke University’s Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity. His research focuses on the root causes of inequality and designing remedies to address both the causes and consequences of disparities in the economy.
