D’Andre Anthony Gordon

D’Andre Anthony Gordon is a junior at Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is currently pursuing his BA degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. D’Andre is currently an Urban Scholars Intern on the Policy Team in the Office of Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan. In the future, he is hoping to attend law school and earn a Juris Doctor degree in criminal law and civil litigation. It is D’Andre’s core belief that just and equitable policy decisions cannot be made unless there is full and equal representation of diverse people at every table where decisions are being made.

In high school, D’Andre served as the student council president, Congressional District Seven Youth Representative, Youth Representative to Bemidji City Council and youth liaison to Bemidji Parks and Recreation. Since starting college, D’Andre has served as a field manager for a local commissioner campaign, interned at the Capitol through Minnesota Citizens for the Arts and interned with the Office of Mayor Carter.  Once D’Andre earns his J.D, he would like to use the knowledge he has gained to work to build a more restorative criminal justice system using person centered practices since out current criminal justice approach is heavily punitive and destructive to both society and the individuals who are under the control of the corrections system.
