Debarati Ghosh is the Director of Operations for the Roosevelt Institute. To advance the Institute’s organizational development goals, she collaborates with a cross-functional team and colleagues across departments on operations and internal communications projects.
Debarati came to the Institute from her position as Editor/Publications Manager at Columbia University for Joseph E. Stiglitz. She managed and developed content for all of Prof. Stiglitz’s writings and presentations, working with a team of researchers and editors. This included the books Globalization and Its Discontents Revisited and The Euro; over 100 articles and OpEds for major media outlets; and some 70 academic papers in top journals. She developed presentations and preparation for Prof. Stiglitz’s prominent speaking engagements and participated in events, domestically in Washington, D.C. and New York City and internationally in Kenya, India, Austria, and Germany.
Prior to this, she was with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). As Managing Editor she was the head of two major publications, Country Commerce and Country Finance, and worked with a team of some 30 in-country correspondents, editors, and copyeditors which she built and managed. In both the EIU and Columbia University, she collaborated on projects with government agencies, multilateral organizations, non-profit organizations including think tanks, and universities.
She holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University, and a B.A. in Sociology from Drew University.
