she/her/hers

Cynthia Patterson is a talent consultant, specializing in the development of forward-thinking, people-first organizations by amplifying their people, programs, and processes.

Cynthia joins the team as a talent consultant, leveraging her 15+ years of people experience in publicly held and privately held international companies. Growing companies, primarily in the tech industry, from tens to thousands of employees has shaped her perspective and progressive people practices. Most recently, she was the VP of people and culture with an emerging AI tech startup. For her, being part of the Roosevelt Institute bridges her career to her deep passion for social justice, workers’ rights, and the environment.

Originally from Seattle, she moved to Brooklyn in 2021 and quickly immersed herself in the community—working as a New York City poll worker and voter rights advocate, with the local chapter of Planned Parenthood, and with other women’s rights groups. In Seattle, she volunteered with multiple organizations and advocated for city- and state-level initiatives, including paid sick and safe time.

In addition to her role as a board advisor for LLUNA, an HR software, she is an ambassador (subject matter expert) with Resources for Humans, a 20K+ global people community where she shares progressive practices focused on worker empowerment; justice, equity, diversity & inclusion (JEDI); and technology.

With a BS in human resources and an MBA, she is looking to pursue her doctorate in organizational development and is SHRM-SCP- and SPHR-certified.
