Managing Director, Corporate Power

Bharat Ramamurti is the Managing Director of the Corporate Power program at the Roosevelt Institute. In his role as Managing Director of Corporate Power, Bharat Ramamurti continues and expands Roosevelt’s groundbreaking research on identifying and explaining the problem of concentrated corporate power in today’s economy—and helping to advance solutions that rebalance power for the good of all. Prior to joining Roosevelt, Bharat served as Senior Counsel for Banking and Economic Policy for Senator Elizabeth Warren and as her top economic adviser during her presidential campaign. In the Senate, Bharat advised Sen. Warren for five years on a broad range of issues, including her work on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs; her investigation into the Wells Fargo fake-accounts scandal and the Equifax data breach; her oversight of the Federal Reserve, SEC, and other financial regulatory agencies; and the drafting and introduction of several bills, including the Accountable Capitalism Act. On the presidential campaign, Bharat helped develop a number of proposals, including the Senator’s wealth tax and student loan debt cancellation plans. Bharat is a 2003 graduate of Harvard College and a 2007 graduate of Yale Law School.
