As the Senior Development Manager at the Roosevelt Institute, Katy Nelson is responsible for grant writing across the think tank, advocacy, and network teams; stewardship management of foundations and major donors; and managing the overall fundraising pipeline.
Prior to joining Roosevelt, Nelson was a freelance writer for publications and nonprofits. She previously served as a grant writer for Demos, and as a magazine reporter in her hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a Morehead Scholar; a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University; and an MFA in creative writing from Queens University of Charlotte.
