As the director of foundation relations at the Roosevelt Institute, Marie Avetria works closely with the development team and staff across Roosevelt to develop and execute the organization’s foundation fundraising strategy. She is responsible for managing cultivation and stewardship plans with a set of foundation donors, ensuring that donor materials and ongoing communications are meaningful, timely, and of high quality.
Prior to joining Roosevelt, Marie served in senior development roles with nonprofit education organizations including America Achieves and New Leaders. She also has consulted on development and grantwriting with a wide range of education and arts groups. As a writer both inside and outside of Roosevelt, she has a passion for storytelling and a belief in the power of narrative to drive change. She holds a BA in English literature from Brown University and an MFA in fiction writing from Brooklyn College.
