Matt Hughes is the deputy director of editorial strategy at the Roosevelt Institute, where he leads the editorial team in the shaping and production of publications, op-eds, speeches, and newsletters.


As the deputy director of editorial strategy, Matt Hughes leads the editorial team in the shaping and production of Roosevelt publications, op-eds, speeches, and newsletters. He recently worked on Roosevelt and the New Republic’s How to Save a Country podcast, and was previously a researcher in the Office of Joseph E. Stiglitz at Columbia University. His work has been covered by the New York Times, Politico, and Vox. Matt holds an MPA in urban and social policy from Columbia University and a BA in economics and politics from New York University.
