Controller

Willie Vega is the controller at Roosevelt where they oversee accounting operations, manage accounting records, analyze financial data, support internal auditing processes, and ensure accuracy of financial information and compliance with funders.


As the controller at the Roosevelt Institute, Willie Vega is responsible for all accounting functions and operations, including review of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll journals and general journal entries. Willie provides financial analysis, trains staff on finance issues, and provides ongoing mentoring on accounting software and accounting rules and regulations. Willie assists the finance team with internal audits, monthly closings, bank reconciliations, federal payroll reconciliations, and tax reporting. Willie also plays a central role in updating and preparing audit schedules and budget data. Finally, Willie supports grant monitoring and spending through ongoing review of the accounting entries.

Willie has been the managing director of Quantum Fiscal Services, LLC (Quantum) since 2011. He oversees Quantum’s professional services, working closely with nonprofit clients’ senior management and fiscal staff to ensure that financial procedures and operations function efficiently. In addition, Willie regularly serves as an interim director of finance/CFO for Quantum’s clients, providing organizations with guidance and fiscal stewardship during periods of leadership transition. Prior to Quantum, Willie was the Outsourcing and Software selections Manager at Fiscal Management Associates (FMA).

Vega has more than 15 years of experience in financial management and auditing and extensive experience with financial software, including Financial Edge, FUND-EZ, QuickBooks, Sage MIP, and Go System Audit. Vega received a BS in accounting from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY.
