Prior to Roosevelt, Rey worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Division where he contributed to the office’s extensive regulatory, advice, and litigation efforts, specifically focused on workplace rights and employee misclassification. He has served as a lead researcher, spokesperson, and attorney defending workers in California with PowerSwitch Action. In collaboration with workers and organizers, his work has been featured in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Huffington Post. Rey holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and has studied at Cambridge University and the London School of Economics as a Marshall Scholar.
