Alan Barber

Managing Director, Partnerships and Government Relations

Alan Barber is managing director of partnerships and government relations at the Roosevelt Institute.

Alan develops the Roosevelt Institute’s external relations strategy and builds strategic relationships with partners in government, policy shops, and advocacy organizations. Previously, Alan was policy director at the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Center, where he led the policy team as well as the Policy and Research Council, a coalition of think tanks, advocates, and experts dedicated to strengthening the progressive movement. Before joining the CPC Center, Alan supported communications and policy efforts at the Center for Economic and Policy Research on a wide range of economic issues. He is a National Academy of Social Insurance member and sits on the National Employment Law Project Action board. He is a former president and member of International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers Local 70, the “union for nonprofit workers.” Alan earned degrees in government and psychology from Georgetown University.
