Katy Nelson

Development Manager

Katy Nelson serves as Roosevelt’s Development Manager. Prior to joining the Roosevelt Institute in May 2020, she worked as a grants and fundraising writing consultant for nonprofits, artists, and higher education clients. Katy has served as a grant writer for Dēmos, the public policy think tank, and for many years she was a journalist in her hometown of Asheville, N.C., where she reported on the arts, cultural preservation, and local history. Katy holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a Morehead Scholar; a master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University; and an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte.
