Matt Hughes is the director of editorial and narrative strategy at the Roosevelt Institute, where he leads the editorial team in the shaping and production of publications, op-eds, speeches, and newsletters.

As the director of editorial and narrative strategy, Matt Hughes leads the editorial team in the shaping and production of Roosevelt publications, op-eds, speeches, and newsletters. He recently worked on Roosevelt and the New Republic’s How to Save a Country podcast, and was previously a researcher in the Office of Joseph E. Stiglitz at Columbia University. His work has been covered by the New York Times, Politico, and Vox, and he is a contributing author of the forthcoming book Creating Justice in a Multiracial Democracy: New Will for Evidence-Based Policies That Work (Teachers College Press, 2024). Matt holds an MPA in urban and social policy from Columbia University and a BA in economics and politics from New York University.
