STATEMENT: Roosevelt Institute on the End of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
New York, NY – Bilal Baydoun, director of democratic institutions at the Roosevelt Institute, released the following statement in response to the announcement that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting would shut down.
“Americans trust public media precisely because it serves the public interest rather than the economic and political interests of billionaire owners. In dismantling yet another democratic institution, the administration seeks to keep Americans in the dark about the forces that shape their lives, and ensures its pro-billionaire agenda will be shielded from any independent oversight or accountability.”
