New York, NY—The Roosevelt Institute is pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Krugman, Nobel laureate in economics, former New York Times columnist, professor, and author, has joined the organization as a senior fellow. Krugman’s contributions will support the organization’s broader efforts to hold those in power accountable and grapple with the lasting impact of current economic policy decisions.
“Paul has spent his career challenging stale economic assumptions and making the case for policy that actually serves people,” said Elizabeth Wilkins, President and CEO of the Roosevelt Institute. “His voice is a powerful addition to our work reimagining what the economy can and should do in a democratic society. We’re honored to have him join our community of thinkers and doers.”
As a senior fellow, Krugman will contribute to Roosevelt’s mission of advancing a bold economic vision for the United States. Over his decades-long career at the New York Times, Krugman helped readers to make sense of the structural forces shaping the economy. The combination of world-class economic expertise and rare ability to reach broad audiences will make him an invaluable addition to Roosevelt’s work.
“We’re living through a period of profound economic and political challenge,” said Krugman. “The Roosevelt Institute is one of the few places right now willing to rethink the fundamentals and confront hard truths. I’m excited to contribute to an organization that takes both economic rigor and moral responsibility seriously.”
On April 3, 2025, Paul Krugman joined Elizabeth Wilkins for a conversation about the current economic climate. You can find that conversation here.
Krugman joins other distinguished senior fellows at the Roosevelt Institute, including Sarah Bloom Raskin, William Alexander Darity Jr., Sameera Fazili, Darrick Hamilton, Michelle Holder,
