Brad Lipton

Director, Corporate Power and Financial Regulation

As director of the corporate power and financial regulation program at the Roosevelt Institute, Brad Lipton leads Roosevelt's work on the rules governing financial institutions and other corporations to produce a more equitable economy.

Brad previously served for more than a decade at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), most recently as senior advisor to the general counsel. In that role, he was involved in nearly all aspects of the CFPB’s management, including strategy, policy, and litigation as well as building partnerships with states across the country. At the CFPB, Brad had a leadership role on a wide range of issues, including medical debt, federal preemption of state law, bank account fees, the CFPB’s role in prudential regulation, credit card rewards, and more.

Brad graduated from Yale College and Yale Law School and clerked on the US District Court for the District of Columbia and the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. He lives in Washington, DC.
