Inaugural Young Professionals Hyde Park Weekend

If you’re a Roosevelt Network Young Professional—who graduated from undergrad in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, or 2019—then get excited because we are announcing that

registration is open for our inaugural Young Professionals Hyde Park happening August 3-6, 2023, at the FDR Presidential Library in Hyde Park, New York!

Running alongside our Retreat Weekend for undergraduate fellows, this is an opportunity to spend a weekend at ‘home on the Hudson’—learning from peers and experts alike, building your skills, and celebrating the opportunity to be in person with your progressive community again.

We have guaranteed slots for 30 Young Professionals. Registration will remain open until we reach our cap, at which point we will create a waitlist of attendees.

How do I register?

Please use this form to register for the event. Please only fill it out if you are committed to attending; this is an actual registration form (not an RSVP/save the date). If you register and your plans need to change, please email us ASAP at campus.network@rooseveltinstitute.org.

What does this cost?

The only out-of-pocket cost to you is your transportation to the conference. There is no registration fee, and Roosevelt has housing secured for up to 30 participants: double occupancy rooms at a local Poughkeepsie hotel. If you travel to and from NYC en route to Poughkeepsie on Thursday/Sunday, we will have some seating availability on a chartered bus.

The hotel provides breakfast, and meals at the conference will be provided.

What are the dates and times I need to be aware of for travel?

  • Programming will kick off Thursday evening. To be part of Roosevelt’s shuttles from NYC to Hyde Park, you will need to arrive in NYC on Thursday in the morning or early afternoon.
  • Programming will end Sunday by lunch, at which point we will shuttle people back to NYC. If you are booking trains, flights, or buses, we advise booking them in the late evening.

The nearest Metro North to Hyde Park is Poughkeepsie. If you have specific travel questions related to arrival or departure times/locations, please email us.

Who is eligible to attend?

You are welcome to join us for our Young Professionals Hyde Park if you:

  • Graduated from your undergraduate degree program in 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, or 2019;
  • Participated in a Rosevelt Network chapter on your campus during any of those years, and/or participated in a fellowship program run by our national staff.

The Roosevelt Network recognizes that not enough young people understand the career path of policy and the role it plays in the progressive movement and is working to make the progressive career paths accessible and clear to students who have traditionally been locked out of that process—women, POC, LGBTQ+, etc. Under Network 2.0, our alumni community is repositioned as participants of the Network rather than graduates of it.

Who are Young Professionals?

Anyone who has graduated from a Roosevelt Network fellowship program, been part of a sunsetting Roosevelt @ campus chapter, or participated in any of our programs/events and is up to 5 years out of their undergraduate degree program. Our Young Professional cohorts are an essential part of our piplineing plans.

What does it mean to be a Roosevelt Network Young Professional?

As a young professional, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in new programs to support you through the early stages of your progressive movement careers. While we are still working on building and scaling up our programs for Young Professionals, you should expect mentorship, training, and career coaching over the coming years.

What can I sign up for this year?

We launched our first ever Young Professionals Mentorship Program in Spring 2023! Stay tuned next every year in late winter and early spring for Mentor and Mentee sign-up!

Use this form to tell us all of the ways you’d like to be supported under Network 2.0,  and the ways you’d  like to support others!
